Air drying curly hair is a great option for styling and reducing heat stress on your curls. Curly hair responds well to air drying.
To get the best results when styling curly hair it’s vital to have a routine of regular cleansing, conditioning and deep treatments to keep your curls looking fresh and frizz-free.
The more hydrated your hair is, the more flexible it becomes, leaving hair easier and quicker to style.
Get your hair prepped with a deep conditioner for best results. Use Restore and Shine Hair Masque to give your hair maximum moisture.
1. Soak up Excess Moisture
Rinse hair after deep conditioning and wrap a microfibre towel around your hair. Don’t rub the hair at this point. Do nothing. Just let the towel soak up the extra moisture for a minute or so. Alternatively, you can use the towel to remove excess water by gently squeezing the ends.
It’s vital not to rough up the cuticle. However you take out the water, be gentle.
The hair should be still damp but not dripping.
2. Apply Styling Product
Once your hair is drip-free you can start to apply your styling product at the ends and mid-lengths.
You can use a curl cream or leave in conditioner. Simply smooth into the hair.
3. Style Your Curls
Having applied your curl cream or leave in conditioner you can simply set your hair in place and leave your hair to dry. If your hair is longer you can twist the hair in large sections and release when the hair is almost dry.
Once you have the hair in place, leave it to dry. Avoid touching it. Touching the hair too much can overwork it, leaving hair frizzy and fly away.
7. Use your Fingers
When hair is almost dry, you can use your fingers to make any adjustments. For extra shine and natural hold you can give it 2 spritzes of Styling Mist for Glossy Finish.
If you have twisted long curly hair, you can spritz with Glossy Mist, leave for a few minutes and then shake out your curls to let them loose. Use your fingers to put the hair in place and remember to keep it light touch to help your curls to stay frizz free.
