Model motion for Stand up for Choice

This meeting notes 

The annual march of the anti-abortion movement, takes place on Saturday 7 September.

The march is a gathering together of over 30 anti-abortion organisations that features the banner ‘Abortion Isn’t Healthcare.’

The anti-abortion movement in Britain is emboldened by attacks on abortion access in the US and wants to turn the clocks back here for women and pregnant people who choose to end a pregnancy.

Anti-abortion activists don’t care about life, they want to control women and pregnant people’s bodies.

The anti-abortion movement has links with the far right and anti-LGBT movements.

This meeting affirms that:

• Abortion is health care

• Abortion is safe

•  Every woman or pregnant person has the right to free, safe, legal, and local abortion.

Our bodies our decision.

This meeting therefore

• Supports the counter protest, ‘Stand up for Choice’, called by Abortion Right at 2pm Saturday 7 September at Parliament Square.

• Reaffirms our commitment to the campaign to decriminalise abortion in Britain and end the investigation of women under archaic abortion law

• Agrees to affiliate to Abortion Rights if not already affiliated.

• Agrees to donate money to assist the building of the counter demonstration.
