Feather Stitch Face Scrubby (Free Crochet Pattern)

Whip up several of these easy face scrubbies for a standalone gift or a spa gift basket! They are wonderful to reuse and make great gifts.

Design Story and Inspiration for this Textured Face Scrubby

Every year I design a new face scrubby pattern for gift-giving, but I have to admit, I honestly make and keep most of these for myself. Ever since I decided to use my craft to replace some disposable things around the house, I’ve been “hooked”. ????

I really love knit and crochet face scrubbies and use them all the time. I even throw them in the washing machine with my regular clothes and they come out great (just make sure you use cotton yarn)!

I designed this pattern as part of the 2024 Holiday Maker’s Challenge, where we encourage each other to work to our holiday deadline. There are a few criteria for our patterns in the challenge, which are:

1. Uses stash yarn

2. Is easy to intermediate

3. Is small so it doesn’t take a long time to make (we have a lot of gifts to make, okay?)

4. Is well received by gift recipients

This fits the bill for these criteria, and I love how functional and cute they are.

Yarn Options for this Free Crochet Face Scrubby Pattern

You can really use any yarn you like for this pattern, as long as it is cotton yarn – preferably 100% cotton. The yarn I used to make these is Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton, which is a DK weight yarn from our local Hobby Lobby store.

If you want the same size that I got for mine, choose a DK weight yarn (category #3). If you don’t mind it being a slightly different size, feel free to use other weights of cotton yarn. Just be aware that they tighten up in the wash, so a smaller square might become tiny.

Textured Face Scrubby Pattern Details

This pattern has a ton of texture and that’s thanks to the feather stitch. It’s a wonderfully textured stitch formed by drawing up loops in different parts of the fabric.

It’s not a hard stitch to learn and makes for great face scrubbies!
