Polish Pickup June 2018: Video Games

*Press Samples* Hi everyone! The theme for June's Polish Pickup is "Video Games" so makers used inspiration including everything from good old fashioned arcade games, old-school video games that many of us played as kids on the very first computers and gaming systems, to current popular games. This month I was lucky to swatch polishes from Dreamland Lacquer, KBShimmer, Lollipop Posse Lacquer, Pahlish, Pretty Jelly, Rogue Lacquer, and Scofflaw for you. June's Polish Pickup will start on June 1st and will run until June 4th. Dreamland Lacquer Evil Pig Bag Acquired Inspiration: Tomba! Price: $12 Cap: 200 Description: Hot pink jelly with holo flakes, metallic shimmer, and subtle blue flash. Formula: Lovely formula that easily reached squishy opacity in 2 coats. My Thoughts: This pink is HOT and even more brilliant in real life. I just love those flakes. This juicy pink should be on your summer polish list! KBShimmer Insert Coin Inspiration: Arcades Cost: $11.50 Cap: No Cap Description: Blue/Purple/Gold multichrome with strong gold metallic magnetic effect and a touch of holo sparkle. Formula: Polish applied smoothly and easily and I used 2 coats for full coverage (used neodymium magnet for magnetic effect) My Thoughts: This is a refreshing and very unique twist on a magnetic polish (with the gold base vs a black base). It is truly a magical look when it transforms from an almost plain gold metallic into the multichrome beauty that you see when the magnet is applied. I like Christy's inspo too, which is coins at an arcade. Lollipop Posse Lacquer The Sending Inspiration: Final Fantasy X Cost: $12.50 Cap: No Cap *Also includes free neomydium bar magnet* Description: A magnetic rose-gold/pink/gold/green multichrome with silver holo flakes, green/blue/purple UCC flakes, and purple/red/pink UCC mega flakes.  Formula: This polish applies nicely and is easily opaque in 2 coats My Thoughts: The magnetic effect with this polish is subtle, but really gorgeous! It is much more prevalent in real life than photos show (you can see it more in the last photo around the middle of the nail). The magnet really pulls out a softer rose gold and adds glowy shimmer. This is another unique magnetic that Karen has given us and I just love it! This polish is amazing with or without the magnetic effect.  Pahlish Shy Guys on Stilts Inspiration: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Cost: $12 Cap: No Cap Description: Neon yellow jelly with a mixture of holo flakes, red/green aurora pigment, color shifting iridescent flakes. Formula: Easy to use formula that reaches squishy opacity in 3 thin coats. My Thoughts: Who doesn't love a glowing neon yellow? The shimmer and flakes in this are just amazing. Gah, I actually always wanted a Super Nintendo as a kid but never had one, so I bought one off of eBay when I was in college and I still have it and THIS game. It is hard and the screaming baby Mario is enough to drive you bonkers. Pretty Jelly Steve Inspiration: Steve from Minecraft Cost: $11.00 Cap: No Cap Description: Light aqua cream with scattered holo, green/pink shimmer, and green and sapphire multichrome flakes. Formula: Nice opacity and easy application in 2 coats. Thoughts: This polish has a nice aquatic feel and I love how effortless it is to apply. The multichrome flakes in this one are smaller/finer than the ones you see often and it given the polish a little dimensional that I think is very reflective of Minecraft in general. Rogue Lacquer It's On Like Donkey Kong Inspiration: Donkey Kong Price: $11 Cap: No Cap Description: A copper, gold, silver, cyan, blue, red, rainbow mettalic flake bomb with holo and copper and magenta holo glitters.  Formula: This polish is packed with flakes, so it is slightly on the thicker side, but it was very easy to control and apply. I used 3 thin coats for full coverage plus 1 coat of a thicker topcoat (I used KBShimmer Clearly On Top). It was very smooth for having all of the flakes/glitter packed in it.  Thoughts: This polish had the final look of a rainbow glitter bomb, but in fact it was smooth and required just 1 coat of topcoat. It is a flashy final look and I'm just in love with it! Just lookit that macro! Scofflaw You Have Died of Dysentery Inspiration: Oregon Trail Cost: $12.50 Cap: No Cap Description: A neutral green-tinted greige with holo sparkle and strong green, silver, lavender, and violet shimmer. Formula: Formula was on the thicker side with this polish, but I didn't have problems with application. I might thin it slightly next time I use it just as a personal preference because I like to use thin coats. I used 3 coats for full coverage here. Thoughts: This is a shimmer bomb that Scofflaw does so well. It's a lovely twist on a neutral, and it makes me think of what I wanted Illamasqua Hemlock to be, but wasn't (not even close). I laughed so hard when I saw the inspiration for this polish because I
