Woah. Where have I been? You know, I’d like to tell you I’ve been busy doing something really cool, like singing in an 80s band or learning how to riverdance, or maybe something even less cool (but CLEARLY AND TOTALLY worthwhile), like dressing the cat up in little outfits and carrying him in a purse through the grocery store. But seriously, do you even know whose blog you’re reading right now? Certainly not the blog of a person who goes and “does stuff” for a living, I’ll tell you that much. YOU GUYS. It’s me! And y’all know damn well I’ve been laying on this couch for the past 12 days in the most extreme display of pajamas you EVER did see.
Welll, I mean. Did you expect otherwise? NO. YOU. DID NOT. Although the whole cat-in-a-purse thing is definitely on the To-Do List. I swear, why that cat hates me we’ll NEVER freaking know.
Oh, but hey! It’s Polish Pickup time again, and I’ve somehow managed to swatch 11 lovely shades for you this month (i.e., suuuuper overachieve-y). The theme is Across the Universe, an ode to planets and galaxies and other space-y interpretations – and we’re totally over the moon for this one! Soooo … who’s ready to look at pretty things? At this point, pretttty much all of us. Unless you don’t like happiness or maybe you have no eyes. I dunno.
KBSHIMMER: HUBBLE’D TOGETHER
DESCRIPTION: A teal-leaning mint jelly base loaded with holographic micro flakies, unicorn flakies and glow in the dark powder

Christy made a perfect polish twin if you’re asking my opinion. All those flakies got me 27 levels of ridiculous. These macros don’t help matters much AT ALL:

SCOFFLAW VARNISH: LIFE ON MARS?
DESCRIPTION: A deep dusty red-orange full of aqua blue shimmer and highlights and silver flecks

Another awesome interpretation! I love that Finch went the orange route with this one. I mean, I’m all for a blue polish but an orange one just gets me in the feels. It’s a happy color, a warm and cozy color. Orange gives my favorite color of all time (green, duh) a run for it’s dadgum money. Toss in a contrasting blue shimmer, and FORGET IT. I am dead.

NAIL HOOT: PINK NEBULA
DESCRIPTION: A hot pink creme with black glitters and a dash of purple shimmer

LUCKY 13 LACQUER: SET PHASERS TO STUNNING
DESCRIPTION: A squishy sapphire jelly with aqua/sapphire/amethyst ultra chameleon chrome flakies and silver holo micro shreds
OPACITY: Two coats plus glossy top coat
Anya took her inspiration from Star Trek: The Next Generation:
Yep, a galaxy in a bottle. As if Anya’s like an expert or something.
In addition to the polish, Anya made a most delicious scented top coat. Here is Space Jam:
Inspired by this plate of blueberry macaroons:
Guuuurl .. this top coat smells soooo freaking good! You don’t even have to have your fingers up under your nose to smell it either (unless you want to; completely normal behavior). It permeates in the most wonderful way possible. However, lemme remind you: DO NOT EAT. Smells good; taste like crap. Do not ask how I know.

LYNBDESIGNS: SIMPLY CRABULOUS
DESCRIPTION: A deep purple crelly with red/gold/green/violet color shifting flakies and the smallest holographic shimmers

Jennalyn was inspired by the Crab Nebula, her favorite of all the nebulas:
Can totally see why. I love purple and orange together; a very striking combo. And then of course you toss a bunch of flakies in there, and .. welp .. ladylike behavior = out the dadgum window.

In addition to the polish, Jennalyn made one of the coolest products of (basically) all time. This is Universal Calm, a personal inhaler:
A what now? I KNOW! Jennalyn loves to diffuse essential oils so she created this personal, portable one full of a blend of lime, orange, lemon and grapefruit to make an aroma that’s both calming and uplifting. Simply twist off the cap and breeeeeeathe. And then if pajamas happen next, no one is surprised.

EMILY DE MOLLY: CREATED BY MAN
DESCRIPTION: A steel blue to very dark grey (almost black) thermal with blue to purple shifting shimmer, silver holographic microglitters and orange iridescent flakies

The thermal transition on this one was very quick, so my attempt to get the perfect swatch was an anxiety attack, sweatbead mustache and surprise snake photo during a leisurely Facebook scroll all rolled in one. In other words, not my best effort but I frenzied it up real good anyway. Please enjoy.

PRETTY JELLY: I AM GROOT

I’m not even gonna pretend anything normal is happening right now. Ugh. First, GREEN. Second, FLAKIES. Third, me sitting here crying over nail polish. OMG, am I still married cuz seriously, I don’t even know.

I saw the Foo Fighters in concert a few months back and they played this song for us. You know, in case that makes me only slightly more cooler than the lady who carries her cat around in a purse. If not, well then enjoy these flakie bits:

FAIR MAIDEN POLISH: INTERSTELLAR

And then naturally a beautiful polish was borne. I saw so many shifts in this polish, but the blue base was the hardest to capture. I think I got pretty close, though. Maybe. Kinda. Seriously, no one is more professionaler than me.

I can’t get enough of all these flakies! I am in flakie heaven this month, for real. The foil finish on this polish is ultra shiny and reflective and a bonafide driving hazard. Potholes coming outta nowhere with this one. But worth it? YES, like a trillion-fold.

BLUSH LACQUERS: LASSO THE MOON
DESCRIPTION: A soft silvery-taupe with violet-blue shimmer, holographic pigment and holo flakies

Victoria was inspired by this scene from the movie, It’s a Wonderful Life:
The movie is black and white, but Victoria took her own liberties with the color of this polish. I think the pearlescent, ethereal look of this is nothing short of spectacular. The most glorious moonlit glow of your life! Toots for Victoria, YET AGAIN, for making me love a pale polish against my pale skin and somehow managing to make these sausage fingers not look so sad and sausage-y.
