Man, 79, fatally struck by Foothill Transit bus in Hacienda Heights
The man was crossing Azusa Avenue when the bus hit him. He died at the scene.

A 79-year-old man crossing a Hacienda Heights street died after a Foothill Transit bus hit him Monday night, Sept. 23.
The bus was coming out of the Puente Hills Mall parking lot around 5:40 p.m., said Officer Zachary Salazar, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
The bus was on Pepper Brook Way and turning right to Azusa Avenue, he added.
The man was walking across Azusa. At this point, it is unknown if he was walking inside a crosswalk.
From statements obtained by the CHP, Salazar said it sounds like the bus had a green light.
The medical examiner’s office identified the pedestrian as Chi Wong of Hacienda Heights.
No one was arrested, Salazar said.
“Our hearts are absolutely with the loved ones impacted by the tragedy,” Foothill Transit spokeswoman Felicia Friesema said. “We are cooperating fully with the investigation.”
Line 285, which had eight passengers, was at the beginning of its trip heading to La Habra, she said.
