Kings Crown The Caps!

The Capitals struggled offensively in their game against the Kings, losing 3-0. Despite Lars Eller’s milestone and some power play opportunities, they failed to capitalize, leaving them without goals.

Kings Crown The Caps!

After a nice but gritty win vs the Ducks with the score of 7-4 to start the road trip they headed to LA to face the Kings late Thursday night.

We saw a familiar face in the opposite net in the overpaid Darcy Kuemper who didn’t live up to expectations for us. Also Thursdays game was Lars Eller’s 1,100th game, nice little milestone for him.

The Caps went on the power play via a slashing call 8 mins into the 1st but came up with nothing to show for it.

The Kings got on the board first after a battle behind the net caused the puck to sneak to in front of the net where Warren Foegele was waiting and after a couple smacks was able to get it past Lindgren, 1-0 Kings.

We then head to the 2nd after the Caps outshot the Kings by 1

Aside from an 2v1 chance that the pipe by Roy that elected not to pass to a wide open Ovi. The Caps had another chance on the power play due to a Kuemper tripping call but again nothing to show for it with barely any quality chances. This due to it seemed like every-time the boys wanted to get something going the middle of the ice was clogged from poor positioning.

In the remaining seconds of the 2nd the Caps went on the penalty kill. After a spectacular split save by Lindgren the 2nd ends the same as the 1st period 1-0 in favor of the Kings.

As we enter the 3rd the Kings were still on the power play and they were to answer with a goal off a Greta pass from below the goal line to a wide open Kevin Fiala who delivered a snipe one timer from the right circle to beat Charlie, 2-0 Kings.

Before we can even digest the last King’s goal after a misplay by the blue line by Protas the Kings get a easy 2v2 that had the Caps defense on their heels where an easy one timer by Byfield beats Lindgren and makes it 3-0 in favor of the home team.

The dormant Caps offense heads back on the power play due to a Kings high stick 0-3 so far. After the first big chance of the night but the Caps couldn’t put it home, but a cross check on the play gives the Caps a 5v3 for 20 seconds.

Caps finally showed some fight after a high stick call on a clearing attempt. Wilson went after King’s Anderson for god knows what but at least we are showing fight. From this Wilson headed to the box from a slash and a King headed to the box as well. 4v4 hockey until Roy took a slashing penalty immediately after the puck was dropped the wheels are completely coming off for the Caps in this game.

Lindgren was solid tonight but I hate to say it he was bested by Keumper Thursday night due to the lackluster or just like most Capital’s fans Thursday asleep.

Thank god the next game is at a better time for the east coasters as they take on the young and fun to watch San Jose Sharks team. Lets just flush this game and mindset on Saturday.
