Invest in North Shore

North Shore is one of the oldest areas in Kamloops, BC. It is a big part of where it all began! The North Shore is full of multicultural history, where the community really came together, we always need to show a huge appreciation to the early pioneers.

The North Shore borders along 12th Ave and Ord Road. Within those borders the North Shore runs all along the North Thompson River and the Thompson River. There are two bridges on either end of the area, the Halston which will connect you to the Yellowhead Highway and the Overlander Bridge which connects you too either downtown Kamloops or uptown Kamloops (Sahali, Dufferin etc.) depending which way you choose.

North Shore has so much development potential, some say it is the best place to invest in real estate in Kamloops right now. Be sure to check out the concept drawings on letstalk.kamloops.ca. If will certainly get you thinking about your next move. There are certainly some awesome restaurants and cafes in the North Shore – Brighteye Brewing, Red Beard Café, Jamaican Kitchen, Minos Greek Souvlaki, 5 Bean Brewbar & Café, Sorriso Restaurant and Deli the list goes on and on. There is also quite a large commercial area with all the shopping you need for you household errands including Northills Shopping Center and Fortune Shopping Center. And yes, there is a casino, Chances Casino. If you want to go spend a little money!

McArthur Island Park, if you haven’t been here, go. It is a beautiful park on an island that is full of ball fields, skate park, soccer fields, a large event center, and a beautiful walking path. There are tons of Marmots, ducks and geese that may greet you along the river. If you like to ride a bike, the River Trail takes you all around North Shore and in the park. When I lived on the north end, I loved this! Nice and flat too, makes for a great afternoon.

North Shore Real Estate is a real mix. You have some old character homes on the east and west side of Fortune Drive – which I love because it will feel like the style of a downtown home but won’t cost that extra premium. Royal Ave has river front homes, some are older, and some people have recently built. Schubert Drive is the other road that offers river front properties. There are lots of long-time homeowners there. There are a few new apartment buildings like Spirit Square, Houston Place and The Stations are trendy and close local shops and restaurants. Along Tranquille Road there are quite a few privately owned apartments that are rentals which make for often great investments if you are looking to expand your portfolio.

Touching on the schools on the North Shore. There is Arthur Hatton Elementary, Bert Edwards Science and Technology and North Kamloops Secondary School. The North Shore in Kamloops has many schools. The elementary schools are from kindergarten to grade 6. The Brock middle school are grades 7-9. NorKam Secondary has many academic and elective courses to choose from – offering various trades programs including hairdressing and carpentry. NorKam Secondary is proud to be an international Baccalaureate School. IB Programs challenge the students to excel in their studies and encourage both personal and academic achievement.

Each time I write a blog on an area of Kamloops, I get more and more excited about all Kamloops has to offer as a community, such a great place to live. If you are ever looking to invest or simply just check out a great local spot to have dinner. Visit the North Shore.
