November is the month of gratitude, so I want to take full advantage and talk about the reasons I’m grateful for running. Obviously, running is a huge part of my life, so it only makes sense for me to be so very thankful.
I’m Grateful For The Time
Running gives me time for myself. It’s my time to decompress, to work through feelings, or to just lose myself in my own head. When I run, it’s the only time I have entirely for me, and I value that so much.
I’m Grateful For The Challenge
Running is hard. Even professional and elite athletes struggle sometimes. However, challenges are good. They keep us hungry and pushing forward. I’m so grateful to be able to rise up and put in the work to achieve my goals and stay strong.
I’m Grateful For The Friends
Running has brought me so many incredible friends. It’s amazing to have a group of people with similar interests, who are more than willing to go out at the crack off dawn and sweat through some miles. We have laughed together, cried together, vented together, and celebrated together. It’s amazing.
I’m Grateful For The Views
Running has brought me to so many new places and I’m so grateful for all of the places I’ve seen. Travel is another passion of mine, so the journeys and destinations are both so treasured.
I’m Grateful For The Mental Peace
For me, running is a form of therapy. Don’t get me wrong, running is absolutely not a replacement for actual therapy, but it does soothe me and allow me to regulate for the day. Physical activity is so critical to my mental health, so I am thankful for the self-soothing running permits me.
