Exciting machine knitting events coming soon!

During August in the Machine Knit Community we have been running a “Clear the Decks” Challenge for members. And there’s a good reason for it … we have lined up a really busy schedule of machine knitting events and classes for the next 3 months and we wanted to make sure everybody had the time and space to take part in as many of them as they wanted!

I ran a Livestream for members, announcing the lineup and running through the details and I thought I’d share the details here with you too in case you’re thinking of signing up for membership in September.

So without further ado here is our machine knitting lineup for the next 3 months …

September Machine Knitting events

We kick off with a bang in September with a star packed roster of machine knitting tutors - Bill King, Victoria Salmon AND Susan Guagliumi!! We are focussing on machine knitted Rib and Bill will be teaching the first in a two part series on Double Bed Jacquard. Victoria from Another Knitted Thing will be teaching variations on Plated Rib. And Susan will be spilling the beans on her 40+ year career as a machine knitting designer & tutor.

For those who at the start of their ribbing journey, we will also be launching our revamped “Understanding your Ribber” self-paced machine knitting workshop.

On top of that, we have our regular Knit Club which will be hosted by Colleen in Australia and 3 Momentum Sessions to encourage members to get machine knitting!

All of these events are Members Only and included in the MKC membership fee.

October Machine Knitting events

In October we are moving from a focus on Rib to looking at machine knitting garments that fit! We will be running a live 5 week Knit-a-long with the wonderful Jeni Allison (an incredible textile artist and machine knitting technician) on pattern cutting & shaping. At the end of the KAL members will have a capsule wardrobe that fits perfectly.

Our Knit Club will be hosted by Teresa in the UK and our 3 Momentum Sessions can be used to make progress on any current machine knitting projects

November Machine Knitting events

Finally in November we are diving into colour work & creativity with some truly inspiring machine knitters! The amazing Kate Box will be running an inspiring “Painting with Wool” KAL to machine knit a beautiful blanket using plating and/or intarsia. Bill King will be back for his 2nd class on Double Bed Jacquard and Sarah Etchison will be with us to teach the magic art of Mosaic knitting whereby you can create float less 2 or 3 colour patterns by using slip or tuck stitch.

We also have a double bill of new Meet the Makers with Maria Zverin from Aliska, based in Israel and Dr Julia Wilmott, a knitwear designer and educator based in Hong Kong.

Our Knit Club will be hosted by Terri from the US and the 3 Momentum Sessions will give members an opportunity to try out some of these new techniques they’ve learnt during the month.

We are really excited by this lineup of amazingly talented machine knitters! Nobody can ever say machine knitting is an old fashioned craft after looking at this - tutors from around the globe all with a wealth of talent, creativity and passion for machine knitting.

Don’t worry if you can’t join any of the events live - to be honest they are in time zones all over the world for this schedule! Every event is recorded and uploaded the following day so you can watch it at your own convenience. Of course this means that you can also go back and watch any of our previous event too!!
