Community Foundation of Abilene awards more than $497K to nonprofits

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Community Foundation of Abilene has awarded more than $497,000 in grants to 35 local nonprofits this fall.

"Through the generosity of our donor-advised fundholders and funds raised from the Community Connections grantmaking publication, the community contributed more than $98k," the Community Foundation of Abilene shared.

The recipients of the Fall 2024 community grant cycle are as follows:

  • Abilene Philharmonic Association – Abilene Youth Orchestra program support 
  • Abilene Recovery Council – Parenting Awareness and Drug Risk Education Services (PADRES)
  • All For One Missions International – Food pantry support
  • All Kind Animal Initiative – Support for marketing and communications director
  • American Red Cross – Home fire relief
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star – High school bigs
  • Big Country Court Appointed Special Advocates, Inc. – Advocate training support
  • Boys & Girls Club of Abilene – Youth program support
  • Camp Able – Program support for horse care and therapeutic riding
  • Center for Contemporary Arts – ArtWalk program support
  • Christian Job Corps of Abilene – Christian Women's Job Corps Work Program
  • Christian Service Center – Standing in the Gap: Your Financial Freedom Course
  • Cisco College – Abilene campus food pantry and lunch program
  • Dignity Health Management Center – Client housing support
  • Dyess First Sergeants Council – Emergency funding support for Dyess airmen benefiting 'Operation Warm Heart'
