Alternative Uses For Wooden Pallets
Wooden Pallets

Wooden pallets are often used for transporting heavy loads from one place to another. They offer a stable platform on which to stack goods, and these are then secured to the pallet with strapping or shrink-wrap. Pallets are utilised in many different industries and are integral to the day-to-day running of many businesses- but what are some alternative uses for wooden pallets?

Whether you’re looking to get creative with some surplus pallets or you’re simply fascinated by the wonderful world of recycling, we’ve made a list of a few alternative uses for wooden pallets.

Coffee table

Many pallets are the ideal size to convert into a coffee table, and this is a relatively simple DIY project. Simply lay a thick pane of glass on top of the pallet (to ensure the surface of the table is even) and perhaps fix some wheels to elevate your pallet off the ground. This is a cheap and easy way to transform your pallet into a functional piece of furniture, plus, it will look unbelievably stylish.

Wall art

If you’re someone with an artistic streak, why not transform your disused pallet into a work of art to hang on your wall? Sand down the wood to create a smooth surface, buy some paint and be as creative as you’d like with the design. Whether you’d like a simple pattern or an intricate painting with lots of detail, it’s important to choose a design that appeals to you and that also fits in with your artistic skill set.

Standing garden

A standing garden is a great way to display your plants proudly and it can look fantastic in more or less any room of the house. This idea can be executed by flipping your pallet on its side and threading some plants through the slats. Of course, there are more crucial steps to follow to ensure your plants flourish in this display, but there are many helpful tips online and once set up, your standing garden will undoubtedly be a focal point of the room it’s in.

Garden path

Whilst a pallet structure can lend itself to many different uses, that doesn’t mean you can’t take it apart and utilise the individual slats. These can be laid out in your garden to create a charming garden walkway, and this can be arranged to suit the size and style of your garden. Again, the wood will likely need to be sanded down, but this is undoubtedly a simple way to make use of your leftover pallets and could do wonders in bringing a lacklustre garden to life.
