On June 28, the Iowa Supreme Court upheld a six-week abortion ban. carafem’s last day of abortion provision in Iowa was July 19, 2024.
- Abortion is allowed in cases of rape if the assault is reported to law enforcement within 45 days. It is allowed in cases of incest reported within 140 days.
- Abortion is allowed if the pregnancy endangers the life of the pregnant person and in the case of life-threatening fetal abnormalities.
- Minors must notify at least one parent if they wish to have an abortion.
- Public funding for an abortion is only available in the incidence of incest, rape, or in the case of a mother’s life being threatened.
